Land Purchased for Regional Behavioral Health Facility

In 2024, Clovis purchased 18 acres at 2125 W. 21st St. for a regional behavioral health facility near Plains Regional Medical Center.

$1.85M Reinvestment Funds Awarded

In 2024, the consortium received $1.85M in reinvestment funds for design services, start-up costs, transport vans, and communication efforts.



2023

$10M State Investment Secured

In 2023, Clovis, Portales, Fort Sumner, and surrounding counties received $10M from the state for land acquisition and construction.

Crisis Triage Center Phase One Launched

Phase one will establish a 12,000 sq. ft. Crisis Triage Center with 24/7 care, 8 recliners, 12 beds, and new 2023 laws allowing up to 14-day involuntary stays.

2022

Regional Mental Health Transformation

In 2022, Clovis, Curry, Roosevelt, Quay, De Baca, Portales, Fort Sumner, and Union County teamed up with Initium Health to address critical mental health care gaps.

Feasibility Launched

Work by Initium Health for the Eastern New Mexico Regional Crisis Care Center Feasibility Study involved 7 local governments and over 70 interviews.

Opioid Settlement Funds Committed

In 2022, the consortium allocated $3M in opioid settlement funds to establish the facility, with more funds to be disbursed over the next 16 years.

Community Listening Session

Fifty attendees representing the community from four counties participated in a community listening session to discuss the needs for the facility, including its design and program perspective.

Feasibility Study Completed

Outcomes include a Financial & Operational Assessment for a Regional Behavioral Health Facility with inpatient psychiatric beds, a detox unit, short-term SUD treatment, and a 24/7 Crisis Triage Center offering assessment, stabilization, withdrawal management, and peer support.
